We help busy, socially-conscious professionals like you move toward the impact–and the life!–you’re meant to have, without driving yourself into the ground.

You’ve been conditioned to treat certain behaviors as simply the cost of success and survival:

  • Urgency.
  • Perfectionism.
  • Accepting unacceptable conditions or behaviors from others.
  • Fear (which can show up as trying to control things outside of your control).
  • People-pleasing.
  • Ignoring your own feelings and needs.

These defaults maintain a harmful status quo, and ultimately undermine your capacity to reach your desired destination. (#burnout, anyone?)

Let us show you compelling and effective alternatives.

Conveniently (note my sarcasm), you've been conditioned to suppress & ignore your natural pathway to power & joy. We're gonna fix that. ;)

Navigate Complexity w Greater Sophistication

...with an integrative self-coaching method that can help you systemically account for multiple factors & achieve your desired outcomes. 🌟

Noticeably more equipped to encounter tension.

"I feel noticeably more equipped to encounter moments of tension within racial justice work and just in life, with more groundedness and a sense that it can be opportunity for growth and connection. The tools, rituals and practices I've learned here and as well as the group I went through this experience have felt like a real gift. I am so grateful to April and Tracie!"

Tamara, Non-profit health professional and social justice advocate

It was a really amazing experience...

"It was a really amazing experience to weave together trauma-informed work, racial justice and my identity. It resonated in a completely different way than any other justice training I have participated in to-date."

Sandra, Organizational DEI consultant

There can be joy & meaning found, even in the mistakes.

"This experience was full of so many insights...the work of transforming communities, institutions, and systems into more just and equitable ones is long and hard, but it does not have to be completely frustrating or hopeless. There can be joy and meaning found even in the small steps forward, or even in the mistakes. It has really given me...a lot of energy to tackle these challenges in my own life and work."

Mark, Rabbi & social justice leader

Hi! 👋🏽
I'm April.

Advancing Belonging, Shared Power & Justice

Host of The Joyous Justice Podcast

Founder & CEO of Joyous Justice, LLC

I'm an Afro-Indigenous Jewish woman who is a multi-award-winning social justice leader and life coach. I am also a rising Kohenet (Hebrew Priestess) and will be ordained this coming Summer 2023!

Over the last 20 years, I have pursued extensive training, education, and real-world experience (in both “traditional” and abolitionist, counter-oppressive spaces) as a:

  • grassroots community organizer,
  • social justice leader,
  • c-suite executive of a national non-profit, and
  • liberatory life & leadership coach
  • international trauma peer counselor

I have also avidly observed and analyzed what undermines our movements and people in our pursuit of progress and our personal well-being.

All of this to say, I help people like you—busy, socially-conscious professionalsdo what matters without undoing themselves.

In other words, my team and I help social change agents thrive.

I’d love to support you. It's about time you prioritize your well-being AND your success. ;)

A shorthand for how to deal with life

"A complete method to gain access to one's own thoughts and feelings. A way to process past experiences and/or trauma so that the experience can be used for growth and moving forward. Briefly - a shorthand for how to deal with life. Shema - listen and learn."

Nina, Congregational social justice lay leader, retired social worker

Understanding I'm not alone has been extremely heartening

"Both hearing other people's reflections and understanding that I am not alone in the feelings of overwhelm when confronting justice and equity issues in my own life and community has been extremely heartening."

Eric, Local interfaith coalition leader

Show up as your best self during conflict!

"This process is a framework for grounding oneself in order to show up as our best and most liberated selves in moments of conflict, especially across lines of difference."

Sara, Non-profit manager
